Workshop on Study Program Development (Session 3)

Workshop on study program development was continued with the third section held online using Zoom application on November 25th, 2021. This time, we discussed on curriculum development as a way to improve the quality of education as well as to meet the demands of the changing industry and global environment nowadays. We again invited Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Sri Wahyuni, S.U. from UGM to share her knowledge and opinion. The discussion went well and exciting since the participants showed a great enthusiasm in responding the topic.

Webinar 2021: Cryptography System Defining from Points, Lines, and Numbers

Mathematics Study Program of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta successfully held a web seminar (webinar) entitled “Sistem Kriptografi Memaknai dari Titik, Garis, dan Bilangan” via the Zoom application. The webinar on Wednesday, November 24th,  2021 was opened by the Head of Mathematics Study Program, Dr. Suma’inna, M.Si and then continued by our distinguished guest Dr. I. Wayan Sudarsana, M.Si who shared his knowledge and insight on cryptography system or also known as cryptosystem. Our guest speaker emphasized the basic fundamental of cryptography in a computer system as a way to protect information and communication using codes by incorporating the algorithms for key generation, encryption, and decryption methods. The participants from both students and lecturers were very enthusiastic about the delivered material and got the opportunity to discuss more during Q&A session with the presenter.

Webinar 2021: Mathematics in the Development of Rocket Technology

On Friday November 12th, 2021, Mathematics Study Program held a seminar with topic on mathematics and model rockets. This event was carried out online using Zoom application. The focus of this discussion is related to the importance of math concept in rocketry, especially with the use of differential equations and vector calculus. Mr. Idris Eko Putra, a group leader of rocket design at Indonesian National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN), was invited on this seminar to talk about his experience and share his knowledge from how to design a rocket to understanding rocket attitude and motion from mathematical perspective. Through this seminar, the participants (mostly from Mathematics students) can get a better understanding the connection between math and science, practical application of mathematics to rocketry, and the importance of careful construction of a model rocket for stability, safety, and a successful launch.
